Originally from Portage, Michigan, Dr. Braaksma is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in the foot and ankle. He joined Orthopedic Associates in 2015.

After completing his bachelor of arts in biology at Albion College, Dr. Braaksma earned his doctorate of medicine from Wayne State University in Detroit. He then began both his internship and residency in orthopaedic surgery at Grand Rapids Medical Education Partners – MSU, after which, Dr. Braaksma underwent extensive fellowship training in foot and ankle surgery at Harborview Medical Center through the University of Washington in Seattle.

Dr. Braaksma is board-eligible for the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is an active member of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.

When he is not seeing patients, Dr. Braaksma enjoys reading, playing basketball, running, traveling, fishing, and spending time with his fiancé and their black lab.
